What Data We Store

Cyber Scam Simulator is designed with privacy at its core. The app does not require an account, login, or registration. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers during normal use. The vast majority of your data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and never leaves your phone.

Here is a complete breakdown of what data exists and where it is stored:

Training Progress

Stored locally on your device. Includes scenario completion records, individual scores for each challenge, your overall security awareness level, course progress, lesson completion status, and SOC challenge results.

Badges and Achievements

Stored locally on your device. Includes all unlocked badges, milestone tracking data, achievement timestamps, streak records, and your selected character profile.

Subscription Status

Managed externally by Google Play Store and RevenueCat. Includes your subscription tier, purchase history, and billing status. This data is not stored within the app itself and is linked to your Google Play account.

App Preferences

Stored locally on your device. Includes sound and notification settings, display preferences, onboarding completion status, and any customisation choices you have made within the app.

Local Data vs. Server-Side Data

There are two distinct types of data deletion, and it is important to understand the difference so you can choose the right option for your needs.

Local data is everything stored directly on your device via AsyncStorage. This includes your training progress, badges, achievements, and preferences. You have full control over this data and can delete it instantly yourself without contacting us. No request or waiting period is required.

Server-side data includes any anonymised analytics, subscription records held by RevenueCat, and any data processed through our servers (such as AI-powered scenario interactions). To remove this data, you will need to submit a formal deletion request, which we process within 30 days.

Delete Local Data Yourself

Because Cyber Scam Simulator stores most data locally on your Android device, you can remove it immediately without contacting us. Follow these steps:

  1. 1

Clear App Data via Android Settings

Open your device Settings, tap "Apps" or "App Management", find and tap "Cyber Scam Simulator", then select "Storage" and tap "Clear Data" or "Clear Storage". This immediately and permanently removes all training progress, scenario scores, unlocked badges, achievements, character selection, course progress, and app preferences from your device.

  2. 2

    Uninstall the App (Optional)

Long-press the Cyber Scam Simulator icon on your home screen and select "Uninstall", or use Settings then Apps then Cyber Scam Simulator then Uninstall. This removes the app and all remaining locally stored data from your device. Note: uninstalling alone also clears all local data, so Step 1 is optional if you plan to uninstall.

  3. 3

    Cancel Your Subscription (If Applicable)

If you have a Cyber Scam Simulator Pro subscription, clearing app data or uninstalling does not automatically cancel it. To cancel, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, go to "Payments and subscriptions", then "Subscriptions", find Cyber Scam Simulator, and tap "Cancel subscription". This prevents future billing. Your subscription access remains active until the end of your current billing period.

Local Deletion is Permanent and Irreversible

Once you clear app data or uninstall, all training progress, scenario scores, unlocked badges, achievements, streaks, and preferences are permanently lost and cannot be recovered. However, your subscription status is not affected. If you reinstall the app, your subscription will be restored automatically through your Google Play account, but you will start with a fresh training profile.

Request Complete Data Removal

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the right to request erasure of any personal data we hold about you. If you want to ensure that all data associated with your use of Cyber Scam Simulator is removed from our systems, including any server-side analytics, AI interaction logs, RevenueCat subscription records linked to your device, and any other data processed through our servers, you can submit a formal data deletion request.

Since Cyber Scam Simulator does not require an account or login, we will verify your request using the device information you provide. Please include as much detail as possible so we can accurately identify and remove your data.

We will acknowledge your request within 5 working days and complete the deletion within 30 calendar days of receiving it, as required by UK GDPR. If we need additional information to verify your identity or locate your data, we will contact you and the 30-day period will begin once verification is complete.

What Happens After Deletion

Once we receive your formal deletion request, here is what you can expect:

  1. 1

    Acknowledgement (Within 5 Working Days)

We will confirm receipt of your request via email and may ask for additional information if needed to verify your identity or locate your data.

  2. 2

Processing (Up to 30 Calendar Days)

Our team will identify and remove all server-side data associated with your device, including analytics records, AI interaction logs, and any RevenueCat subscription metadata. We will also request deletion from any third-party processors.

  3. 3

    Confirmation Email

Once deletion is complete, we will send you a confirmation email detailing what data was removed. If you have already cleared your local app data, the deletion process is then fully complete across all systems.

If you have any questions about the deletion process or your data rights under UK GDPR, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. You can also review our full Privacy Policy for more information about how we handle your data.
